TUITION AND FINANCIAL AID

Students who enroll in the Culinary Arts Certificate Program at The Culinary Institute of America, San Antonio may apply for the Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG, Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan, Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, Federal PLUS, and alternative loans. In order to apply, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If requested, forms and documentation, such as tax returns and the Institute Supplemental Form, should be sent to the Financial Aid Office at the CIA's main campus in Hyde Park, NY.

El Sueño Scholarship

The Culinary Institute of America, San Antonio offers El Sueño Scholarships to aspiring culinarians who are residents of the state of Texas.

To be eligible for an El Sueño Scholarship (PDF 66 KB), you must:

  • Be a resident of the state of Texas for at least six months
  • Have completed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form
  • Have a completed CIA, San Antonio application for admission on file
  • Complete the El Sueño application (PDF 66 KB)

El Sueño Scholarship applications are available from the CIA's San Antonio or Hyde Park campuses.

Helpful Hints on Filing the FAFSA

  • Don't wait until you have been accepted for admission. File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as you apply for admission. Texas residents should complete the El Sueño Scholarship application at the same time.
  • The Federal code for The Culinary Institute of America is 007304.
  • Since we do not have graduate programs, you are not a graduate student while attending the CIA, San Antonio, even if you already have a degree. If you do have a prior degree, your status (on the FAFSA) is "1st year, attended before."
  • The results of your FAFSA will be sent to the CIA Hyde Park campus, where your file will be reviewed and an award letter sent.
