Counter Attendant/Cashier

The Culinary Institute of America, the world's premier culinary college is looking to fill a part time Counter Attendant/Cashier position. The Counter Attendant/Cashier is responsible for taking orders, packing and receiving payment for customer. This position is responsible for preparing excellent espresso and coffee beverages and cold beverages featured in the bakery café menu. In addition, some food preparation for savory items.

Required Qualifications:

  • Cashier Experience
  • Experience in full service bakery, pastry shop or restaurant
  • HACCP or ServSafe® Certified, or Texas Certified Food Handlers Training
  • Able to work up to eight hours on their feet

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Barista Experience

Principal Duties:

  • Maintain superior guest relations to ensure total satisfaction.
  • Maintain authorized bank as provided by Café Manager.
  • Perform cashier functions in regards to all transactions, settling checks to proper payment method. Preparation of end of shift paperwork, deposit of bank bag and safe drawer.
  • Package breads and pastry orders as guests orders maintaining the integrity and presentation of the product.
  • Participate in the set up/maintenance/take down of display cases during all hours of the baker café.
  • Cook panini's or other "to be warmed" food items.
  • Prepare excellent espresso based and other hot and cold beverages to order.
  • Work hours determined by the Café Manager, working extra shifts or hours as needed. Maintain time sheet as provided by Café Manager.
  • Adhere to TABC (Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission) laws.
  • Participate in the thorough cleaning of the bakery cafe at the end of the night.
  • Participates in proper storage/disposal of all products, equipment and finished products within the bakery cafe.
  • Ensure proper storage and security of all FOH equipment and bakery items.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of all storage areas.
