COLLEGE CAMPUS
(5) Choose a college offering a vital campus community and access to career and cultural resources.
The college should have a diverse student body and a variety of clubs, special events, and sports.
- The CIA's residential campus is filled with people like you—creative, dedicated, fun-loving students with a passion for the culinary and baking and pastry arts. And while our students have that common bond, they are also a very diverse bunch—about half come here right out of high school and the rest are students who have worked in the foodservice industry, are career changers, or earned a degree somewhere else before recognizing their true passion. Plus, CIA students come from virtually every U.S. state and 30 countries.
- Whatever their age, background, or life experiences, our students are active in the CIA's wide variety of student clubs; classes such as yoga and Spinning; intercollegiate sports such as soccer, cross country, tennis, and basketball; and kayaking and Scuba diving instruction. Special events are held throughout the year, and range from the annual Chili Cook-off, movie-in-the-pool nights, and bands to our infamous Halloween party, to name just a few.
The availability of attractive campus housing and recreational facilities contributes to a dynamic, fun student life experience.
- Set on 170 acres overlooking the majestic Hudson River, the CIA's got everything you need to get the full college experience. You'll enjoy the friendliness and convenience of living in one of our four residence halls or six new student lodges. Adding to the social experience is the Student Recreation Center, home to the Courtside Café and Pub, a gymnasium, a game room, tennis courts, cardiovascular and weight rooms, an aerobics studio, a six-lane pool, saunas, and more.
Look for a college that has access to a major city where you can benefit from additional entertainment, cultural learning, and exposure to leading foodservice businesses.
- The CIA campus is centrally located in New York's Hudson Valley, just a short train ride away from New York City. Our students take advantage of New York's restaurants, theaters, museums, clubs, professional sports, and cultural diversity. You also have the unique opportunity to gain more experience and make important connections on weekends or school breaks by working for industry greats in their signature restaurants.
