imageYour future is in your hands with the CIA's Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) in Baking and Pastry Arts degree at Greystone. In this 21-month program, you will:

  • Practice new skills and techniques in extensive hands-on baking and pastry classes—you’ll get right into the kitchen and bakeshop during the very first week.
  • Benefit from a balance of foundation, hands-on, and theory courses.
  • Take academic courses such as Food Safety, Nutrition, Culinary Math, Introduction to Gastronomy, College Writing, and Introduction to Management.
  • Flex your creative muscles crafting hearth and specialty breads, desserts, pastry, pâtisserie, and confections.
  • Put your new skills into action in an 18-week externship.
  • Prepare and serve both savory items and baked goods in a real bakery café environment.

Review the Curriculum Chart to see what courses you will be taking while you will be earning your associates degree in baking and pastry arts.

And be sure to explore the option of transferring your associate degree credits to the bachelor's degree program at the CIA's Hyde Park campus—you get into so many more dimensions of the industry in the junior and senior years.

Once you earn your baking and pastry degree, it can be your ticket to career success. Our 44,000-strong network of alumni can attest to the exceptional value of the CIA degree, as can the great many leading companies in the food world who look to that degree as a valued credential when they're hiring.
