The volleyball team will begin its inaugural season in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference in 2011, after a very successful 2010 season as a club team. Coached by Dominic Garafola and assisted by student coaches Katy Keefe and Jordan Ishizu, the team finished with a 4-1 record for the year.
The team was handed its only loss in the first match of the season by local rival Dutchess Community College, before going on to compete very strongly against conference members Sarah Lawrence, St. Joseph's College, Medgar Evers, and Pratt Institute.
The 2011 season—which was the first season for a varsity intercollegiate volleyball program at the CIA—ended with tremendous success as our student-athletes secured both the regular and post-season tournament championships. Led by Coach Jamie Floryan, the CIA team ended the regular season with an 11-1 record, with their lone loss to Division III Saint Joseph College (CT). By earning the number one seed for the post-season tournament, the CIA team got a bye in the quarterfinals and went on to straight-game victories for both the semifinals (vs. the College of New Rochelle) and finals (vs. St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn).
